Robyn Teaches GOLF!

Robyn’s life since 1984.

Class A PGA Professional since 1997.

Communication

The art of communication. All the education, skill, innate ability, and knowledge will do a coach little good, (and their student) if they cannot communicate effectively on the driving range. I keep things simple and speak to you, not through you, on your personal level. It is imperative for me to have an understanding of you, what your goals are, and how you best learn.

Patience

Patience is not only a virtue, it is a necessity in golf. The same goes for your instructor. As an athlete with a background in several sports, I understand the difference between a fast-paced game of indoor basketball or volleyball versus a slower-paced outdoor strategy of golf. Golf is first played in your mind. There is no room for negativity or intimidation. I help you conquer that.

Adaptability

A good coach can teach anyone willing to pay attention and practice. An excellent coach will evaluate the individual from mindset to physical and athletic ability and adapt their coaching style to their client's needs. I do not expect clients to adapt to a specific player's style as Mickelson did mimicking his father's left-handed swing. My job is to hone in on your natural ability and groove and to minimize your poor habits.

Knowledge

Throughout my PGA career, I have spent countless hours teaching individuals how to improve their swings. It started during the 12 years I was an Apprentice/Assistant Golf Professional, continued when I became the head PGA Professional at Abita Springs Golf Club, Pine Creek Golf Club, and then moved home to Lafayette.

About Robyn

Teaching is a Passion.

Robyn is no novice when it comes to sports. Her high school days were initially spent at Belle Chase High and then completed at Acadiana High. This (once) Lady Ram of the Year was born a natural athlete and has always held a passion for teaching. Between the 2 schools she attended, Robyn held 17 letters in 5 different sports. (basketball, softball, track, volleyball, and golf)

In 1988, she held an NCAA record for serving aces in a season at NSU. She was the 1st volleyball player inducted into the Northwestern State University Sports Hall of Fame and was a member of the NSU Athletic Hall of Fame.

Despite her love for all sports, and her gift to many, golf quickly became her ‘soul’ sport. She was in college when she realized she wanted to pass her enjoyment and love for the sport to others by training them to play the one sport she claims can be played forever….. GOLF!

When she completed her studies at NSU, she set out to fulfill her dream of teaching. She worked under several apprenticeships and was elected as a member of PGA America in 1997. To hear it from Robyn, “Golf has been my identity and life since 1984. No matter what life throws at me, it always brings me back to golf. Golf is my boomerang. It gives me immeasurable satisfaction to be able to pass on the knowledge of something I love to do. I want everyone to experience the same joy. I have the experience, knowledge, and gift, and my goal is to help others become the best golfer they can be. Beginners, intermediate, advanced. Man, woman, child. It doesn’t matter. Golf is fun, and it’s something they can do for the rest of their life. I bet Jesus plays golf 3 days a week. I love what I do!”

Training all skill levels

Lesson includes a bucket of balls

No matter what your skill level, the basics are crucial. Solid foundations allow for a more consistent swing.

11

Adult Lessons

I have trained thousands of men and women over the course of my career. While there are physical differences in stature and strength, the ball is oblivious. Initially, I observe the golfer's habits and tendencies, and then make an assessment of what the individual's strengths and weaknesses are.

Group Lessons

Golf is as much a "mind game" as it is a skills set. I've found group lessons can take some of the stress off a golfer, especially when someone is imtimidated or just beginning to learn. Group lessons come in handy for party themes as well as couples lessons.

Junior Lessons

I enjoy teaching children because I LOVE GOLF. Nothing thrills me more than seeing a child delight in their ability to move the ball. Golf keeps children active and mentally developed while learning a game they can use for the rest fo their lives. This isn't football or basketball. They can participate well into old age.

What are golfers saying?

Nothing is better than hearing it straight from golfers who have taken lessons from me.

After 2 months of instruction with Robyn, my score improved by a minimum of 10, and that's on a bad day. I'm still taking lessons a few times a month to keep improving. Robyn is attentive to detail and explains things in a way I can understand. I've formed some habits I had no idea were impeding my game. I highly recommend her.

Robyn is an excellent golf instructor who is both understanding and patient with her students. Her focus is on making her students feel comfortable and confident. One way she achieves this is by concentrating on one aspect of the golf swing rather than introducing too many elements at one time which only leaves one confused. I highly recommend Robyn.

Determination & Dedication

How much you progress in golf will greatly depend on the amount of determination and dedication you are willing to give. Some players are only looking to tweak here and there while others are seeking to drop their scores by 30 strokes. Regardless of your goals,  I promise to support you as a person and challenge you as a player.  I’ve literally taught thousands of students and no two are identical. A father or mother with small children may not be able to devote the same time a retired individual can to progressing his/her swing. That’s okay! I set a schedule that works for you.
